Am I an AES provider

You may be an AES provider if:

  • You are a landowner and you on-sell electricity to your tenant(s), whether residential or non-residential.
  • You represent a strata company that buys electricity for the whole property and on-supplies it to occupants (the strata company is the AES provider, not you as an individual).
  • You own or manage a retirement village, residential park or caravan park with long-stay residents and on-supply electricity to residents.
  • You operate embedded networks on behalf of property owners/managers.
  • You offer Solar Power Purchase Agreements (SPPAs) to customers for systems located on the customer’s property, including businesses listed on the Electricity Industry (Solar Power Purchase Agreement) Exemption Order 2016.
  • You have contracts with customers that allow you to own and control a system that produces and/or stores electricity (like solar panels or a battery) on the customer’s property, where the customer is entitled to use some or all of the electricity produced or stored by the system.
  • You hold an electricity retail licence and are providing one or more of the services listed above.

If you are uncertain about whether you are an AES provider, you may need to seek independent legal advice.
